Mature Student Admission Requirements

Are you a student over 18 years of age?

Our Mature Student Policy

​ Mature Students Test 

  • Canadian Adult Achievement Test (CAAT)

  • Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE)

  • Canadian Achievement Survey Test for Adults (CAST)

 

English Proficiency: Students whose primary language is not English.

 

English Language Learners: All applicants under Standard and Mature Admission must demonstrate sufficient English Language Proficiency to succeed. Standard language assessment exams include (any from the list will be acceptable)

  • TOEFL 

  • Academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS or IELTS Online)

  • Pearson Test of English (PTE) 

  • Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL or CAEL Online) 

  • Duolingo :website: www.duolingo.com

  • Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP) General

 

Minimum Scores

English language assessment exams and a minimum score in each skill category (reading, listening, writing, and speaking) to demonstrate the CLB level of the student.

 

Students whose primary language is not English must have a C.L.B. level of 7. The following tests will be used to test C.L.B. levels, benchmarking with others in the same industry, that is,  private career colleges in Alberta, we came up with the underlisted as the minimum threshold scores required.

 

  • (TOEFL (iBT) or TOEFL iBT Home Edition) with a minimum total score of 60, with minimum scores of 16 in each of Listening, Reading, and Speaking, and a minimum score of 15 in Writing.

  • Academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS or IELTS Online) test with a minimum overall score of 5.0, and a minimum 5.0 in each band.

  • Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic score with a minimum overall score of 50-58.

  • Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL or CAEL Online) assessment with a minimum overall score of 50, a minimum of 50 in each of Listening, Reading, and Speaking, and a minimum of 50 in Writing.

  • Duolingo with a minimum score of 90.

  • Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP) General: 6
